Sindhudurg is one of the 35 administrative districts of Maharashtra located in the Konkan area of Maharashtra state. The modern township of Sindhudurg Nagari is the administrative headquarter of Sindhudurg district. The district is surrounded by the Arabian Sea on the east, the Belgaum District (Karnataka state) and Goa on the South and the Ratnagiri district on the North.

Sindhudurg is strategically located in the Konkan region of Maharashtra with picturesque stretch of land on the west cost of India, gifted with the beautiful seashore, mighty Mountains and serene beauty of the nature. The worth visiting places to name a few in and around Sindhudurg are:

Satara district is located in the western part of Maharashtra. It is bounded by Pune district to the north, Solapur district to the east, Sangli district to the south and Ratnagiri district to the west. Raigad district lies to its north-west. Sangli district is located towards the eastern part of the state of Maharashtra surrounded by Satara, Solapur districts to the north, Vijapur district to the east, Kolhapur and Belgum districts to the south and Ratnagiri district to the west.

The district lies on the river basins of the Warna and Krishna River. The physical settings of Sangli district shows a contrast of immense dimensions and reveals a variety of landscapes influenced by relief, climate and vegetation.

The most important places of tourist’s interest in and around Sangli are: Shri Ganapati Mandir, Dargah of Miraj, Haripur Temple, Audumber, Prachitgad and Chandoli Century, Tasgaon Temple, Battis Shirala, Dandoba and Kavathe – Ekand Temple etc.

The town Ratnagiri is the administrative head quarter of Ratnagiri district located in the southwestern part of the State of Maharashtra on the Arabian Sea coast. The Bijapur rulers had made it their administrative capital owing to its strategic geographical situation. It is a part of the greater tract known as Konkan.

Ratnagiri’s surrounding area is encompassed by the Sahyadri Hills on the West. Thus, this area receives heavy rainfall which results into highly eroded landscape in the coastal region.

Major tourist attractions in and around Ratnagiri are: Ganpatipule, Pawas, Rajapur, Adivare, Parshuram, Velneshwar, Marleshwar, Hedvi, Panhale kaji, Ratnagiri Fort.

Raigad is one of the 35 administrative districts of Maharashtra located in south-western part of the state. The District Head Quarter of Raigad District is Alibag. Alibag is situated on western coast of India and on shore of Arabian Sea.

Owing to its proximity towards Mumbai, Raigad is important from tourism point of view. Major attractions in Raigad are:

Religious: Ballaleshwar Ganpati – Pali, Varad Vinayak Ganpati – Mahad, Birla Ganesh Temple, Kanakeshwar, Elephanta Caves

Beach: Mandwa and Kihim Beach, Murud – Janjira Fort, Hari-Harihareshwar Beach.
